ANDRE BALDET

André Baldet is a painter-illustrator-graphic designer-poster artist-cartoonist and a great traveler. In parallel with his commissions of images for communication or publishing, he leads a global and original artistic project, "Caravane", which brings together the works that the world and its extraordinary diversity inspire him.

Unlike the painters-travelers who work on the motif, he does not work directly on site: taking notes and views, quick sketches and picking signs that accompany the reading of writers who have taken the same paths. The creative work is done on the way back, in the neutrality of the workshop. He remakes the journey, reinvents it and re-interprets it in complete freedom by relying on his know-how of the image professions.

Considering that each journey is unique and has its own language of shapes and colors, it applies itself to a permanent stylistic renewal, leaving the terrain, the places visited, to influence and guide its pictorial writing. It is the plurality of expressions that makes the singularity of this project.

The variety of original proposals is therefore very great, however the effect of coherence dominates with a luminous palette and an impression of lightness, tranquility and cheerfulness that bathe most of the work. The idea of pleasure nourishes the creative process.
