Eliza Southwood was an architect for ten years before embarking on a career as an artist and illustrator in 2011. She spent her childhood in a remote part of Spain, where she grew up drawing and painting scenes of local life in the mountains.
Her creativity was then channelled into architectural design, and she earned a degree in architecture from the Glasgow School of Art and then completed her graduate studies in architecture in London.
She spent several years working as a designer for Eric Parry Architects in London and later Arup Associates. However, having realized that she loved more than any other to realize the "artist impression" part of her work, she eventually decided to give up architectural practice to work full-time on her own art projects.
Eliza's architectural training allowed her to develop an eye for detail and color, which is evident in her artistic universe.
Her specialty is screen printing, but she also works in mixed media, watercolor and acrylic. She is particularly known for her cycling-themed artworks, but also produces works on a wide range of topics such as cityscapes, dogs, sports and people.
She collaborates with many clients such as Rapha, Bloomsbury, Laurence King Publishing, Magma, the V&A Museum, Brompton Bicycles, Sustrans, the London Cycling Campaign, Bourne and Hollingsworth, Epic Magazine or Cono Sur Wines.
She regularly commissions works of art for private clients.
