Cristina Rodriguez was born in Colombia and studied at the University of Los Andes in Bogotá, where she organized her first exhibition in 1987.
In 1989, she moved to London, with a scholarship from the Government of Colombia and a British scholarship, where she obtained a master's degree from the Slade School of Fine Arts in 1991. She received a Delfina Studios fellowship between 1991 and 1992 and a fellowship to paint in Zimbawbe and New York.
She lived in London between 1989 and 2010, in Geneva between 2010 and 2012, in Estoril between 2012 and 2018. She has traveled throughout Europe, the United States, Russia, Latin America, Africa, North Africa, Turkey and Egypt. She has been living on Pico Island since 2018.
She is constantly in artistic and pictorial creation since 1986. Rodriguez's South American legacy remains a powerful influence on his work. It is reflected in its confident use of the oil's bright colors. He is also evident in his ability to condense complex reality into his own symbolic language, and perhaps even in his robust adherence to figuration, narrative painting.
